Tropical Forestry Initiative

Tres Piedras, Costa Rica

The Tropical Forestry Initiative (TFI) is a non-profit organization founded by a small group of professors and environmentalists. On our 350-acre preserve in Costa Rica, we study the effects of prior deforestation and various strategies for reforestation. So far, we have planted over 40,000 native forest trees in mixed species plantings.

We also perform research at the site, conduct college-credit classes and internships and engage in community outreach programs. Read on, to learn more and to find out how you can participate in this work.
